for the past few weeks, i have been lamenting abt something:
it's so hard to worship God thru my studies.
argh.
n i have been crying out to God helplessly (see my previous post).

today, the Holy Spirit led me to discover something thru Isaiah:

Don't think that the Lord is too weak or too deaf to hear your call for help!
It is because of your sins that He doesn't hear you.
It is your sins that separate you from God when you try to worship Him.

approximately 5 hrs have passed since i made an exit from The Womb a.k.a the SAS swimming pool. wow, how changed i am! i'm slightly more tanned now thn b4 the ceremony. cool.

alright for those who missed the ceremony, here's briefly wat happened:

i was baptised.

haha. alright. to start things off, God answered my prayer n made His sun shine mercilessly on SAV. i prayed for mercy so to some extent, the merciless sun rays didn't zap us to ashes. oh man, i think i'm really changed. i've even become lame, like Chiewyong n Lena. lol. nvm abt tt. being lame ain't a sin, Amen?

so it began. we were singing "This is the day" n "Come bless the Lord". at the corner of my eye, i suddenly noticed something i've never seen b4 in my life. Matrix came into reality. i saw Morpheus n Neo singing the songs w/ us. i was puzzled why they were in white instead of the usual all-black outfit. then i realised they looked familiar. i rubbed my eyes. they weren't Morpheus n Neo; they were Pastor Gilbert n Dennis! cool. nv seen them in baptismal robes. ~Matrix Baptizo~

oh ya for those who were there, perhaps you wud've noticed this too. Pastor Gilbert was moving his feet as he led us into the ceremony. poor Pastor, the hot ground must have been torturous to the soles of his bare feet.

to shorten the lengthy narrative, the moment we had been waiting for arrived. Cynthia was baptised 1st, then my mum, n followed by my sis. i awaited my turn. when it finally came, i cud hear some shouts of cheer mainly frm my fellow Saints for Christ. u noe wat, i felt as if it was the Olympics n i was Ian Thorpe. hai. pity Amy wasn't there. (lol. i'm supposed to be ) actually in a sense, it was indeed a spiritual Olympics.

so i held my breath n went underwater. i think i had the best timing la; i cud hear Pastor Gilbert say "Glen, i baptise you in the na... " (then i was dipped underwater) " ...me of the Father, the Son, and the ..." when i heard "Holy Spirit" i arose frm the seabed, i mean the pool-bed, n emerged. i wanted to ask Pastor whether my hair looked okay but God just kept my mouth shut. i guess tt's the way how God's gonna lead me in doing the right thing frm now on.

so i then swam froggy-style across the breadth of the Olympic-size pool. when i came up, again my supporters cheered for me as if i had won Gold. it felt really good. thks to those who cheered for me. you ppl are really crazy for the Lord. praise God for you!

okay aft tt, was the prize presentation, but there ain't any rostrum. i only heard "We welcome you into the Lord's family ... We welcome you." then all of us contestants shook hands w/ the spectators. i'm really surprised to see so many of my fellow Saints for Christ there. Demi n Daniella came too! haha. oh ya, as i was shaking their hands, guess who i saw. Mr Lim Chong Shen!!! (eh Bob, even Mr Lim went dey) Mr Lim if you happen to read this, i'm so sorry i didn't extend the invitation to you, but i just wanna say i was shocked AND surprised to see you there. thk God for you!

so tt was briefly wat happened. oh ya to those who were there n those who gave me stuff, i'm eternally grateful to you. haha. if you don't believe, wait till we all get to Heaven, i'll still be grateful then. my gratitude displayed here is but only a glimpse of heaven. lol.

but again i wanna acknowledge those who attended it. you really made my day. you noe who you are la ah. sorry for displaying favouritism, but to my fellow Saints for Christ, i'm really touched. i dunno why i'm still not crying. perhaps my tear glands are really malfunctioning today. anyway the cards n gifts were really hilarious, cool n funky! i love them man. i think i'm gonna smile in my dreams tonight.

oh ya to my Cat High friends, i apologise for not inviting you to my baptism cos i tot i wudn't be able to cope w/ so many ppl, n the pool may not be spacious enough for you guys. i don't mean tt i have a myriad of friends in Cat High. i was trying to be funny alright.

b4 i end, just wanna wish my parents a Happy 20th Wedding Annversary!
w/o the both of you, i wudn't be able to even go thru my 1st birth. so if you happen to read this, i wanna say that even tho i may not express this daily in my words n deeds, i love both of you.

many ppl posed me this question: "why Abraham? sounds funny." well, this name was first suggested to me by one of my classmates (dunno which one tho). some of them even wanted to name me after them, like Glen Nigel Liang, Glen Yew Liang, etc. of cos i wudn't do tt! i'm not worthy of those names. they are SJI geniuses! i'm only a Cat High freak. haha. i'm not worthy of the name of Abraham too, but i aspire to possess a character trait tt he has. n the significance of the name is as follows:

Bible Characters

Name: Abram a.k.a Abraham

Background: Son of Terah. Resident of Ur.

Occupation: Nomadic shepherd, on a large scale.

hi earthlings, i hereby announce tt i'm getting baptised next Saturday on the 9th of September. it's at the St. Andrew's Secondary School swimming pool just beside Church Of the Ascension. 13 Francis Drive, Singapore 359339

right now i'm choosing my baptism name. Nigel Teh was suggesting Glen Nigel Liang n Glen Sebastian Liang. lol. anyway below is a list of names in which i've taken an interest:

nvm. anyway Mrs Lee told our class tt by right, according to MOE, Teachers' Day eve is supposed to be a full school day w/o celebrations. and she oso gave other reasons which i am lazy to type them out now. watever it is, my arguments are flawed now n due to other pre-occupations, i decided to stop pursuing the matter. i'm oso not a good debater. perhaps it's just God's will tt the email cudn't get thru to her.

Good evening Mrs Lim. Sorry to disturb you. I'm a JC1 student who spoke to you at the Ceremony dinner earlier today. I apologise for bringing the issue up at that time which I now regret because I realise it wasn't the right time to do so. Thus I decided to write you an email to show you the whole picture of my point. I don't intend to include my name because I don't have the courage to do so. but if I must, I'll clarify my identity in my next reply. I hope I don't sound disrespectful to you here because I have no intention of doing that at all. Please pardon my informal language; I have no proper and consistent exposure to writing formal letters.

You see, many of us students desire very much to return to our alma mater to visit our teachers whenever we can in the year. I know we can do that anytime we want as long as we're free. But I'd like to say that we seldom get dismissed from college early enough to 'catch' our teachers on time back in our secondary schools. As you may already know, secondary school teachers, unlike JC teachers, generally knock off earlier as compared to their JC counterparts. the only occasions when we are dismissed early and are able to visit our former schools together with our ex-classmates from other post-secondary institutions are Chinese New Year eve and Teachers' Day eve. Therefore, in this context I feel indignant (perhaps this is too strong a word but I really feel it) that we Econs students are going to be kept back in school for the test. By the time we're dismissed, I reckon we'll be too late because our former teachers will have left school by then. I hereby predict that a number of Econs students will go against the system next Thursday and forgo taking the test. Instead, they will return to their former schools to wish their former teachers a happy Teachers' Day despite seeing the prospect of their actions' aftermath. I'm sure that SAJC students have such a strong sense of gratitude that they will choose to return to their secondary schools over taking the more important Econs test. I have seen many of my peers' sentimental love for their secondary schools in my 7-8 months here in SAJC.

Mrs Lim, I understand and agree with you when you said that school work comes first. However, if that is so, may I give a humble suggestion. This may not be the best alternative but because I also think that school work comes first, I suggest we do away with the Teachers' Day celebration on Thursday and hold the test first thing in the morning so that we Econs students can go back to our former schools in time. In my opinion, the celebration is of lowest priority. My 1st is school work, 2nd is expressing gratitude to my secondary school teachers and 3rd is to celebrate Teachers' Day. This time, I'm not sure if the rest of the cohort shares the same sentiment.

To be frank, I was a little appalled when you said you couldn't interfere in the affairs of the Econs department. Maybe I should have spoken to the Head for Econs before speaking to you but I reckon that it would not be as effective as telling you in the first place as letting my message be passed up the ranks of the college hierarchy. I apologise once again for disrupting your time during the Ceremony just now.

Mrs Lim, I raised this issue not because I'm against the college, but because I sincerely want our college to be the best that it can be. SAJC has been my dream college. During its construction days in 2005, the sight of it motivated me to study hard for my O levels (I live 7 minutes' walk away from the college). I just want to say that I have nothing against the college. I sincerely appeal to you to kindly understand our situation and I look forward to your address to the matter. this is getting on my nerves.

i spoke to Mrs Lim our principal just now at the SAV official opening ceremony. it was dinner time. i had initially wanted to look for Mrs Tan cos i heard she was approachable. but she wasn't available. then i saw Mrs Lim. i tot she shd be pretty approachable too.

i raised the issue (Econs test vs visiting alma mater on Teachers' Day eve) as sincerely as i can. (i don't look threatening right?) anyway, i told her this, "next week aft Teachers' Day celebration, many of us want to go back to our sec schs to visit our teachers. but the Econs dept announced tt there will be a test aft the celebrations ... "

i had expected a very understanding answer frm her. something like "i'll do something abt it." but instead, she said tt school work comes first n tt she cudn't interfere in the affairs of the econs dept. i was thinking in my mind, "she's the principal, who can stop her frm interfering?" i forced a smile n walked away aft saying, "okay, thks."

alright i shd take into consideration tt i spoke to her at the wrong time. she must have tot, "let's tok abt this later shall we? don't affect my mood pls." n i shd consider tt she din get to see the whole pic. jerome suggests i email her w/ all the reasons stated. i agree. i shall go do tt now. if she still doesn't understand abt our gratitude to our alma mater, i'll have sufficient reason to do something like online petition cos i'm given the perception tt one student can't change the way a principal thinks, but a large number can. i'm sure the bulk of students in SAJC have the moral value of gratitude towards their alma mater (even w/o being taught by ME teachers).

the other time (online petition case), she said we shd speak to her 1st b4 doing anything rash like online petition. okay, i obeyed by speaking to her. but she didn't give me a reasonable answer. so wat's the point of speaking to her b4 writing an online petition? i see no difference at all. tt's why she was so worked up at the previous online petition case. see, u gotta use such mtds in order to educate the authorities.
